Hóčhoka – A Podcast by St. Joseph’s Indian School

The Parental Advisory Committee poses for a photo after discussions about Native American family integration.

St. Joseph’s Indian School is a national leader in advancing Native American lives. To reach a new audience beyond our campus walls, we have published a captivating video podcast series that delves into the center of Native American education, culture and community.

The Lakota word Hóčhoka means the center of the camp circle. The name speaks to the recording studio's actual location at the heart of campus, the centrality of St. Joseph’s Indian School's mission, and the role of the podcast in being at the center of the Native American educational conversation.

Each episode features engaging conversations with students, alumni, staff and tribal, theological and education experts, offering unique insights into the lives and experiences of those connected to the school. Hóčhoka highlights Native American perspectives and provides a platform for voices and stories too often underrepresented in mainstream media. It fosters a sense of community and belonging while displaying the strong bonds and support systems within St. Joseph’s Indian School.

If you want to learn more about Native American education and culture or enjoy thought-provoking conversations, the Hóčhoka podcast is worth a listen!
